Laurel is an educator, facilitator, and multidisciplinary performer originally from Colorado. She received her M.A. in Theater Education and Community Outreach from the University of New Mexico in 2010. Laurel has taught the performing arts for numerous renowned institutions, including The National Hispanic Cultural Center, Stanford University, Keshet Dance, Working Classroom, Enchanted Circle Theater, Bluepalm, the Harwood Arts Center and Explora Children's Museum. She has served as the Executive Director of Theater-in-the-Making, Multi-Arts Theater Director at the Idyllwild Arts Academy, Adjunct Professor in the Performing Arts and Social Justice Department at the University of San Francisco, and Youth Arts Manager at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Here in LA, in addition to teaching dance at St. James, Laurel is also the Service Learning Coordinator at Windward School, and a Teaching Artist with The Unusual Suspects Theater Company. She lives with her husband and two dogs in Echo Park, and likes to play music and write letters to friends in her spare time.
